NextCanvas Community Guidelines

Welcome to NextCanvas. NextCanvas is a space for high school artists to connect, grow, share their work, and support one another. Our goal is to build a community that is encouraging, respectful, safe, and artist-centered.

These guidelines apply to all participants in the NextCanvas community, including students, mentors, guest artists, educators, institutional partners, and other approved invitees. Additional expectations may apply depending on role.

By joining this community, you agree to follow these guidelines:

1. Be respectful.

Treat all members with kindness and respect. Harassment, bullying, hateful language, discrimination, threats, intimidation, or personal attacks will not be tolerated.

2. Give constructive feedback.

We encourage honest and thoughtful critique, but feedback must be respectful and constructive. Do not shame, mock, or tear down another artist or their work.

3. Help keep this space safe.

NextCanvas is designed to support high school students and young artists. Do not post content that is sexually explicit, graphically violent, threatening, illegal, exploitative, or otherwise inappropriate for this community.

4. Protect privacy.

Do not post, request, or share private or sensitive information about yourself or others, including home addresses, personal phone numbers, school schedules, private email addresses, or other identifying details unless clearly necessary and explicitly permitted.

5. Share only what you have the right to share.

Only upload or post artwork, writing, images, or other content that you created yourself or have permission to share. Do not copy, steal, repost without permission, or present someone else’s work as your own.

6. Respect originality.

NextCanvas values original student work. If a space is designated for original artwork submissions, only original work may be shared there. AI-generated artwork may not be submitted in spaces meant for original student artwork unless explicitly allowed.

7. Respect community content.

Do not download, repost, screenshot, distribute, or use another member’s artwork, writing, or personal content outside the community without their permission.

8. No impersonation or misrepresentation.

Do not impersonate another person, artist, institution, or organization. Do not misrepresent your age, identity, credentials, role, or relationship to an opportunity, submission, or artwork.

9. No spam, scams, or misleading promotion.

Do not post spam, scams, repeated self-promotion, unrelated advertising, or misleading links. Opportunities and resources shared in the community should be relevant, genuine, and appropriate for students.

10. Share opportunities responsibly.

If you post an opportunity, event, competition, internship, or resource, make sure the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge. NextCanvas may remove posts that appear misleading, unsafe, exploitative, or inappropriate.

11. No public shaming or targeted harassment.

Do not use the community to publicly shame, target, or rally others against another member. Disagreements should be handled respectfully and reported privately when needed.

12. Eligibility.

NextCanvas is intended for high school students and other participants specifically invited or approved by the NextCanvas team. We may limit or remove access if an account does not fit the intended purpose of the community.

13. Follow moderator decisions.

The NextCanvas team may review, remove, limit, or decline any content, account, or submission that does not align with the purpose, safety, or values of the community. Serious or repeated violations may result in suspension or removal from the community.

14. Community principle.

NextCanvas is built to support young artists with care, trust, and encouragement. If conduct harms the safety, integrity, or purpose of the community, the NextCanvas team may take action even if that behavior is not explicitly listed in these guidelines.

By joining the NextCanvas Community, you confirm that you have read and agree to follow the NextCanvas Community Guidelines.
