What are your opinons on abstract art?

What do you guys think of abstract art. I think some pieces like the starry night I can appreciate, but really contemporary pieces, I just dont get. Some pieces are just like 3 colors and I feel I can create it too? Is it just me that cannot appreciate this art or can someone explain how to decipher these pieces. I think there might just be something I dont understand because many of them sell for millions. The one I attached sold for 98 million!

Is anyone good with abstracts? How do I start one?

Do any of you know how to create an abstract piece(a painting). I am interested in making one but I don't know how to start. Do I just paint randomly or are there things I should follow? Any tips will be appreciated, thanks!

What acrylic paint brand do you recommend?

As a new acrylic painter, I was looking into buying acrylic paint, but there are so many brands, from golden, to blick, to liquitex, and I do not know which one is the best. Some of these paints are also very expensive, especially the heavy body ones, and buying all of these tubes of paint will add up to alot. Need Help Finding A Theme!

I am really struggling with finding a theme for my AP drawing portfolio. What growth does the portfolio need to show? Does growth mean showing an improvement in your artistic ability or does it mean showing growth of your character through the theme? I am just really struggling with finding a viable theme. If any of you took AP art, what were your themes and how did you show growth?

Choosing between Oil or Acrylic paint

I was thinking of starting painting, and I was wondering what medium should I start with first - acrylic or oil paint? Bob Ross teaches with oil, but I have heard other people say that acrylic is easier to handle? Also, there seems to be more materials needed with oil paint and overall the supplies are more expensive. What do you all recommend?

Sketchbook Fear

Whenever I start a new spread, I get so worried about ruining the sketchbook and I'm so scared to start. Do you guys have any advice on how to overcome this fear?

How do I find my art style?

I’ve been really into sketching and loose watercolor lately, especially buildings and outdoor scenes like this one. But I’m still trying to figure out what makes my art feel like “me.” Do you think your art style just happens over time, or do you have to actually work on finding it? What helped you find yours?
